This course is designed as an introduction from the complete beginner who has no knowledge of beekeeping to those who have some knowledge but no practical experience. This course will provide you with the necessary knowledge to decide if beekeeping is something for you.  We will explain the life cycle of the honey bees and colony management and then we will take you to one of our apiaries where we will do practical handling of honey bee colonies.

At our training apiary we have a variety of hives so that you can see and handle the bees on the different frames sizes that the various hives have to offer.  This will help when it comes to making that all important decision of which hive type to buy.

All equipment and clothing will be provided by us, We will take photographs on the day which we will share with you and you are also welcome to take your own photograph's so you have record of your beekeeping adventure.

You will need to wear suitable footwear that comes up your ankle a little, either walking boots or Wellingtons is best, no trainers.
There will be a maximum of 10 people at anyone time on the course.  We ask you arrive here at 10:00am so we can get started at 10:15am and we aim to finish around 1pm.  You will go away with a jar of our honey and will have the opportunity to buy additional honey and other items on the day.

If the forecast is not good enough for us to open the hives we will re-schedule the course date.  In the unlikely event that we don't have enough participants to run the course may ask you to change your booking.
